Lego

I call this body of work Color Constructions as I am playing with modular color here. Originally I kept the bricks pure but began painting them in 2022. The newest pieces are mounted directly on panel and heavily painted. Please get in touch if you’d like to make two payments over two months. 15×15” (16.5×16.5” framed) puff paint and enamel paint on lego base, 2022. This group of work began in the fall of 2022 and is made with puff paint and enamel paint on LEGO bases attached to panels and then framed. This group of work and process falls under the regulatory for me as I Find I need a certain amount of time to do repetitive actions in a hyper focus manner in order to calm my busy head. The attraction to dots and LEGO bases has to do with the same reasons I use LEGO Bricks, window-screen, and bubblewrap among other materials— tactility, childhood memories, a core need to put color in order to achieve a feeling of balance. My eyes respond to these in the same way they do to light in forest trees and what I am trying to capture in the bubblewrap and some of the screen work. The added texture of the base creates an almost magic eye effect. I get asked a lot if there are hidden images. I will never tell. This work is ongoing
